Ian Rickuss MP, Member for Lockyer expressed his concerns that the investigation being carried out by the Department of Infrastructure and Planning into the suitability of the Ebenezer area for high impact, large scale hard to place industries (i.e. smelly, noisy, potentially high risk and unsightly) are going to be sugar-coated. “Rumour has it that the Department of Infrastructure and Planning has made the decision and is now looking to tick the boxes, Mr Rickuss said. “I call on the Minister to name the possible industries; hard to place industries is a euphemism for “no one wants it””. Mr Rickuss said he had written to residents at Geobels Road, M Hines Road, Murrimo Road, Brass Road, Dowden Road, Hartwigs Road, Theakers Road and Sugarloaf Road who may be affected by the placement of this type of industry. “Surely this type of industry would be better off being placed in a large industrial estate where some of industries of least concern could be used as a buffer and not private land, as it appears to be in the current investigation area”. Mr Rickuss said he does not want to see landholders being done over again by this Labor Government so he urged residents to contact him. Residents certainly do have legitimate reason to be concerned and I encourage community members who wish to have their say on this issue to contact me on www.ianrickuss.com.au, email lockyer@parliament.qld.gov.au, phone 1800 817 791 “, Mr Rickuss said. 2 June 2010
