Ian Rickuss MP, Member for Lockyer wanted to highlight the public notice which appeared in the Gatton Star last Wednesday, 2 June inviting trade services to tender for works for the Department of Public Works – QBuild. Mr Rickuss said a panel of contractors will be established in each region to meet the requirements of QBuild for ongoing work and maintenance. “Some of the services invited to tender have been for glazing, air-conditioning and refrigeration, cabinet making and steal fabrication services”. Mr Rickuss said it was important that local businesses put their name forward for the opportunity to do work on local schools, police stations, Department of Primary Industry buildings and a myriad of other State Government sites that are in the Lockyer and surrounds. “It is disappointing when tradespeople end up travelling from Brisbane or Toowoomba when there are local tradespeople to do the job,” Mr Rickuss said. “I encourage all tradespeople to look at last week’s Star or visit www.qgm.qld.gov.au or phone Procurement Operations on 07 3404 3706, email tender@qbuild.qld.gov.au”. 4 June 2010
