Premier Anna Bligh and her incompetent Ministers can’t even give money away, LNP Member for Lockyer Ian Rickuss said today. Mr Rickuss said a letter* he received today from Tourism and Fair Trading Minister Peter Lawlor proved it. “The Minister can’t even hand out money from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund without confusing everyone,” Mr Rickuss said. “About three months ago we all received a letter stating funding applications could now be done on-line at the OLGR website and letters of support were no longer needed from local Members. All applicants had to do was list the name of their referees. “But the latest letter from the Minister states there’s been more improvements and …and you guessed it, he’s gone back to asking for letters of support …and if it all gets too hard, put it in the mail. “However, the website, www.olgr.qld.gov.au/grants/gcbf/howToApply/index.shtml, will only be updated in mid December 2009”. “Now we’re better …we’re back to where we were, only with more confusion as the website doesn’t have the information applicants require on it.” Mr Rickuss said there should be a ‘Peter Lawlor Perpetual Award’ for the most confusing government website on how to give money away. “Minister Lawlor appears to have a good grasp of this award and I am sure it will reside on his desk for some time”, Mr Rickuss said. In any event, Mr Rickuss said he and his staff are always available to assist community groups with letters of support and information about the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. 4 December 2009
