An LNP Government will scrap the compulsory two-page sustainable homes checklist, Member for Lockyer, Ian Rickuss said today. “The badly planned, onerous Mandatory Sustainability Declaration, which requires home owners to make calculations including their electricity use for the past 12 months and the flow capacity of their toilets, would be thrown out by an LNP Government,” Mr Rickuss said. “Since this Declaration was introduced by the Bligh Labor Government, my electorate office has received a lot of feedback from real estate agents, solicitors and concerned homeowners — none of it good. “Many homeowners are concerned they won’t be able to sell their home because of the checklist and professionals are disturbed by the legal implications of this bill. “The LNP has listened to their concerns and upon its election to government; the LNP will throw out the Mandatory Sustainability Declaration. “In the mean time I urge all Lockyer Electorate residents who share my concerns to sign the e-petition calling for the immediate withdrawal of the Mandatory Sustainability Declaration by the Bligh Labor Government. “It is time for Anna Bligh and the Labor Government to admit they have made a mistake.” The LNP e-petition can be signed at - http://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/view/EPetitions_QLD/CurrentEPetition.aspx?PetNum=1348&lIndex=-1 20 November 2009
